【今日のフレーズ】は　just around the corner

　　　意味：　すぐそこ／もうすぐ／まもなく

通常、 be動詞＋just around the cornerという形で用いられます。

直訳すると、そこの角を曲がったところ隣、意味も「すぐそこの角」「目と鼻の先」と、距離的にすぐ近いことを表します。また、同時に時間的な近さも表し、それが今日の例文の「もうすぐ」「間もなく」という意味になります。

Meg Ryan主演の"You've Got Mail"では、母から引き継いだ本屋さんの名前が”The Shop Around the Corner"でしたね。

【例文1】

The starionery shop you are looking for is just around the corner.

　お探しの文房具屋さんはすぐそこの角にあります。

Economists are discussing that the next global recession could be just around the corner.
